He was terrifying in that.
Superb actor. He could turn on believable emotions so effortlessly.

I played 3rd Spear Carrier to his King Lear many years ago. He'd often send over a round of drinks to the spear carrier table, in the bar after the show, and would always greet you with a smile and a 'how are you' at the start of the day.

Brilliant actor and a gentleman.

Re: Sir Michael Gambon - Hovis
Saw him in a one man play about ten years ago which started with him asleep, slumped on his desk. He stayed like that for at least 5 mins though it seemed much longer.... thought he was dead then. Great actor.

I read Brian Cox's autobiography recently and he said that Gambon used to take great pleasure back in the day of having a long liquid lunch with Cox then guiding Cox back to his car and seeing him off on his way. In hindsight Cox couldn't believe Gambon let him drive but that seemed to be shirking all responsibility on his behalf.

‘ I know what I will do……I’ll eat him!’

The Cook, The Thieve, Hus Wife, The Lover.
Or something like that. Great part for Gambon. Hirariously monstrous.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake son.
